Juhász Attila Jazz Quartet

A classic-sounding band, that got on the road by following in the footsteps of Count Basie, Oscar Peterson, Red Garland and Antonio Carlos Jobim. After graduating from Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, the leader of the band Attila Juhász conducted his master degree at Bellingham Western Wahington University as a student and later colleague of Chuck Israels.

He is an all-round virtuoso musician, nevertheless an extraordinary orchestrator and composer.

The quartet has been around in its form since 2008.

In 2010, their album "Sunshine Jazz", won the Fonogram Award-Jazz Album of the Year in Hungary. The album became platinum, later that year.

The rhythm section of the quartet is formed by Balázs Czech -drummer and Béla Piri -bassist, both front-rank jazz musicians in Hungary. They have contributed to numerous records and performed with Hungarian and internationally-renowned stars. The other soloist of the quartet is Attila Rieger, who in his purified play perfectly merges the respect towards jazz guitar tradition and the search for inventive new ways.

The group is also a kind of creative workshop, where own compositions, as well as co-operation with guest soloists play an important role. Besides traditional swing elements there is considerable room for modern harmonies and rhythms in their concept.
